“What’s that?” She saw an owl fly down and sit on the fence.  Quickly, Penny ran to the door and started whining.

“I need to get out!  I’ve got to catch them.”  Penny barked loudly.

Finally, she heard her owner coming down the stairs.

“Penny, I just let you out,” he said.

Penny kept whining and barking like crazy.  Sighing deeply, her owner opened the door. Penny flew out the door, across the deck, and into the bushes.  They were gone.

“Penny!” Her owner yelled.  “Where are you?”

Penny slowly walked back to the door.  Her owner reached down and grabbed her collar.webillustration2

“You are going into the garage tonight,” he said as he pulled her down the hallway. “I need to get some sleep.”

Rio opened her eyes and smiled as Penny was pulled past her.  “I told you,” Rio whispered to Penny.

Then still smiling, Rio settled her head on her paws and went back to sleep on her warm rug.
